Marion Swetenham is an experienced Clinical Psychologist based in Farrer, Canberra, ACT. She has been working as a Clinical Psychologist since 2000 and provides evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy tailored to each client’s unique needs.

Marion specialises in working with trauma, complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, and chronic health conditions, integrating approaches such as EMDR, psychodynamic therapy, and other experiential dynamic therapy work to support healing and lasting change.

Marion also offers clinical supervision for psychologists seeking endorsement in Clinical Psychology.

Therapeutic Approach

Marion takes time to build trust with her clients, ensuring therapy is a collaborative process. Her approach is informed by Attachment Theory, Somatic Therapy, Parts Work, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Memory Reconsolidation. These approaches have been shown to transform trauma so that symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and shame resolve. Marion combines different therapy modalities to offer a holistic, client-centred approach, including:

INITIAL CONTACT
Clients typically start with a phone call to discuss their needs, and an initial appointment is set. If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan (GP referral), please bring it with you to your first appointment.

FIRST SESSIONS
The first few sessions focus on understanding the client’s life story, current challenges, goals, and intended outcomes.

A TAILORED APPROACH
Therapy is structured around what works best for the individual, adjusting as sessions progress.

Fees and Appointments

All sessions are 60 minutes in duration and are offered in-person and via Telehealth/online.

Medicare rebates are available for clients with a Mental Health Treatment Plan from their GP. After you pay your session fee, Marion will process your rebate, which will be paid into your account by Medicare.

    Cancellations

    To cancel or reschedule your appointment, please allow at least 48 hours’ notice.

    A cancellation fee of $220 applies for late cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice, or for no-shows. Please note, Medicare rebates do not apply to cancellation fees.

Clinical Supervision

As a board-approved clinical supervisor, Marion provides professional supervision for psychologists seeking clinical endorsement with AHPRA. She is also working towards becoming an EMDR Consultant.

Supervision is available at $200 per 60-minute session, with flexible scheduling for trainees.
